Uniform Collaborative Law Act set to become law on January 1, 2018 – Collaborative Law is finally getting the legitimacy it deserves. The Governor recently signed the Uniform Collaborative Law Act which still be law as of January 1st 2018. Illinois will join the 16 other states that recognize the Collaborative Law Process formally. The Illinois Act is based on a Uniform Law that provides legal consumers with common language and uniform expectations. The law sets forth how the Collaborative Process works and clarifies that it is a voluntary form of limited scope legal representation with procedural parameters.
